Graham Hickey BA (hons) PGCE

Musical Director

 

Graham has strong brass band and marching band roots performing on G trumpet and soprano or solo cornet. When growing up he was out most evenings performing in Cheshire in the various bands and ensembles. He wrote music for small ensembles when he was younger and was encouraged by Arthur Mainwarring his piano teacher to go to university. He studied at Barnsley college for a BA (hons) degree in Band Studies focussing on composition and arrangement, before joining the Kings Division Normandy Band for some years.

Graham joined the band as Musical Director in 2002, after Ron Minot died and has led the band through many years of varied concerts. Always willing to try something new and welcome new members and collaborations.
